Fast Pyrolysis Characteristics of Sugarcane Bagasse Hemicellulose

چکیده
The pyrolysis characteristics of sugarcane bagasse hemicellulose were investigated using a tubular furnace. The total gas yield and the releasing behavior of the main gas products were measured by GC analysis. The liquid products were analyzed by GC-MS and ion chromatography. The chars were investigated by elemental analysis and proximate analysis. The volatile remaining in the char extracted by isopropanol was observed by GC-MS analysis. The main gas products from hemicellulose mainly consisted of H2, CO2, CO, CH4. It was observed that the yield of CO2 and CO was higher at lower temperatures, such as 550 °C, as well as that of H2 and CH4 at higher temperatures. The liquid products mainly contained furfural, cyclopentene-1 (2-methyl-2-cyclopentene-1, 2-cyclopentene-1, 3-methyl-2-cyclopentene), alcohols (1-butanol), organic acids (acetic acid, 4-hydroxy-butanoic acid, propanoic acid), aromatic series (phenol, ethylbenzene), besides some amounts of sugars. The products remaining in the char were mainly alcohols, cyclopentenes and complex aromatic char.

The integration of dilute acid hydrolysis of xylan and fast pyrolysis of glucan to obtain fermentable sugars
BACKGROUND Fermentable sugars are important intermediates in the biological conversion of biomass. Hemicellulose and amorphous cellulose are easily hydrolyzed to fermentable sugars in dilute acid, whereas crystalline cellulose is more difficult to be hydrolyzed. Cellulose fast pyrolysis is an alternative method to liberate valuable fermentable sugars from biomass. The amount of levoglucosan gen...
متن کاملExtraction of Hemicellulose and Lignin from Sugarcane Bagasse for Biopolymer Films: Green Process
A hemicellulose is any of several heteropolymers , such as arabinoxylans, present along with cellulose in almost all plant cell walls. Hemicellulose has a random, amorphous structure with little strength. It is easily hydrolyzed by dilute acid or base as well as myriad hemicellulase enzymes. In this study, lignin and hemicellulose was extracted from sugarcane bagasse using the ammonium hydrolys...
متن کاملLiquid Hot Water and Steam Explosion Pretreatment of Sugarcane Bagasse for Enzyme Production by a Sequential Solid-state and Submerged Method
RESUMO – The use of sugarcane bagasse on enzyme production is a promising alternative for reducing the costs of second generation ethanol. However, a pretreatment step is required to increase cellulose and hemicellulose accessibility. Here, the influence of Liquid Hot Water (LHW) and steam explosion (SE) pretreatments in cultivations with three Aspergillus strains were investigated. A new seque...
متن کاملCharacterisation of Non-Cellulosic Heteropolysaccharide from Sugarcane Bagasse - Sequential Extraction with Steam Pretreatment and Alkali
Two-stage treatments of sugarcane bagasse with steam and alkaline peroxide were performed and the hemicelluloses extracted were characterized by chemical methods, SEC-MALLS, FT-IR and 13C NMR. The hemicellulose from steam pretreatment was found to contain galacto-arabinoxylans while alkaline peroxide extraction yielded predominately linear arabinoxylans. The present studyshowed a promising seque...
متن کاملThermochemical Conversion of Sugarcane Bagasse into Bio-Crude Oils by Fluidized-Bed Pyrolysis Technology*
Thermochemical conversion of sugarcane bagasse into bio-crude oils by fluidized-bed reactor has been taken into consideration in this study. The bagasse in particle form was pyrolyzed in an externally heated 7cm diameter and 37.5cm high fluidized-bed reactor with nitrogen as a carrier gas. The reactor chamber and gas-preheater were heated by means of a renewable energy biomass source cylindrica...
